You Stopped. Life Got Busy. Here's How to Start Again.

It's okay to have a gap. We'll meet you exactly where you are and build from there.

Life has a way of making aesthetics the first thing to go. A new baby, a career change, a difficult season of caregiving, a move, a period of financial stress — any of these can interrupt a routine you had built and maintained for years. Then months pass, then a year, then several. You think about starting again but you're not sure how to re-enter, what your skin needs now, or whether the person you were seeing has even kept up with how things have changed. You're not starting from zero. You're resuming something.

Comeback clients at Summer House get the same first-appointment care we give anyone new — a thorough skin assessment, a conversation about what you've done before, what changed, and what you want now. The gap doesn't matter. What matters is understanding where your skin is today and building a sensible plan forward. Many comeback clients find that their skin has changed enough during the time away that a fresh assessment is actually valuable — the plan that worked in 2019 might look different now, and that's worth knowing.

Why Summer House

A fresh assessment, not a judgment

We're not going to comment on the gap or make you feel like you should have come back sooner. We're going to look at your skin with fresh eyes, understand your history, and build a plan that makes sense for where you are now. Skin changes over years, and the right protocol today may be different from what was working before. That's useful information, not a setback.

No commitment required to restart

You don't need to book a package or commit to a schedule to come back. A single appointment — a consultation and one conservative treatment — is a completely reasonable way to restart. If it feels right, you continue. If life gets complicated again, you're not locked into anything. We work with real lives, not idealized schedules.

Your plan updates to who you are now

If you were getting Botox and filler five years ago, your face has changed in ways that may shift the priorities. Volume loss is different at 47 than at 42. Sun damage has had five more years to accumulate. The treatment plan that makes the most sense now may differ from what you were doing before — and starting with that honest assessment tends to produce better results than just trying to replicate the old routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't had Botox in three years. Do I need to start over?

Not exactly. Your muscles have fully recovered in the absence of Botox — that's normal and expected. The expression lines may have deepened somewhat over three years compared to where they were when you were maintaining regularly, but Botox will still work exactly as it always did. You may find that consistent maintenance over the next several rounds produces the smoothing effect you remember. First appointment back, we'll start with a conservative dose and assess.

I had filler that I think is still partially there. What do we do?

This is common. Hyaluronic acid filler can persist longer than the labeled duration in some tissue planes — it's not unusual to still have residual filler years after the original treatment. Before adding any new filler, we'll assess what's there through careful palpation and sometimes imaging. If old filler is creating an irregular appearance or complicating the plan, we may recommend dissolving it first before placing fresh product. We'll walk you through what we're seeing.

What if my skin has changed a lot since I stopped?

That's actually fine — and it's exactly what the consultation is for. Skin changes in ways that can shift treatment priorities. What mattered most five years ago (expression lines, for example) may be secondary to volume loss or laxity now. A fresh assessment gives you a current picture of where your skin is and what would produce the most meaningful improvement. Comeback clients often find this reorientation genuinely useful.
