You Took Care of Everyone Else. It's Time to Take Care of You.

Gentle, effective treatments for the skin and confidence changes that come after pregnancy.

Pregnancy does specific things to your skin. The melasma that appeared on your forehead and upper lip — often called the 'mask of pregnancy' — can linger for months or years after delivery. Skin texture that changed during pregnancy. A face that looks tired even when you're not entirely running on empty. These aren't permanent, and they're not something you have to accept as the new normal. You've been putting everyone else first for months. Taking a few hours to address something that's been bothering you is not selfish — it's overdue.

At Summer House, we approach postpartum clients with particular care around timing and treatment selection. Some treatments are contraindicated while breastfeeding and we'll ask about that directly. Melasma requires a specific treatment approach — aggressive laser can make it worse, not better. We'll take the time to understand where you are postpartum, what's going on with your skin, and what's safe and appropriate right now. No pressure, no rushed appointments, no making you feel like this should have been addressed sooner.

Why Summer House

Melasma that finally responds

Hormonal melasma is notoriously stubborn and responds poorly to aggressive laser. The protocols that work — targeted chemical peels, specific topical regimens, and select light-based treatments — require knowing what you're looking at and selecting the right approach. We take melasma seriously and use proven protocols rather than generic pigmentation treatments that can worsen the condition.

Skin texture that returns to normal

The changes in skin texture and overall complexion during and after pregnancy can be frustrating when nothing seems to help. Microneedling stimulates collagen and improves texture consistently over a series of sessions. Chemical peels improve tone and surface renewal. PRF facials use your own growth factors to accelerate skin repair. We'll find the right starting point based on where your skin is right now.

You decide the pace

There's no timeline pressure here. You don't have to commit to a package or schedule a set number of appointments. Come in for one treatment, see how it goes, and go from there. Your life has enough logistics right now. We'll work with whatever schedule and bandwidth you have.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm still breastfeeding. What can I do?

Several treatments are safe while breastfeeding, including most HydraFacials, some chemical peels, and certain topical treatments. Botox and most injectables are generally avoided during breastfeeding out of caution, as is retinol and certain active ingredients in topical protocols. We'll ask about your breastfeeding status before recommending anything and give you a clear list of what's appropriate right now versus what to wait on.

My melasma got worse after delivery. Is that normal?

Yes, unfortunately. Hormonal fluctuations during and after pregnancy — including changes associated with breastfeeding and the return of your cycle — can cause melasma to shift and sometimes worsen before it stabilizes. Sun exposure accelerates it significantly. Consistent SPF use is the single most important thing you can do right now while you wait for your hormones to stabilize. Once they do, treatment is significantly more effective.

When is it safe to start treatments after delivery?

General guidance is that most cosmetic treatments can be considered after 6 weeks postpartum once your OB has cleared you for normal activity. If you're breastfeeding, that affects treatment options but doesn't rule everything out. We recommend your first consultation sometime after the 6-week mark — come in, let us see your skin, and we'll tell you specifically what's appropriate for where you are in your recovery.
