Lip Lines and Smoker's Lines

Vertical lines above and around the lips develop from repeated muscle movement, sun exposure, and collagen loss over time. They are not exclusive to smokers — anyone who purses their lips regularly can develop them. We address these lines with a combination of neuromodulator to reduce future movement and filler to plump and smooth existing lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you treat lip lines — with Botox or filler?

Usually both, used together. A small amount of Botox in the orbicularis oris muscle reduces the repetitive contraction that creates new lines. Hyaluronic acid filler placed superficially fills existing lines and smooths the surface. Laser resurfacing or microneedling can also improve skin texture in this area over a series of treatments.

Will Botox around the lips affect how I speak or eat?

When dosed conservatively, no. We use minimal units in this area — typically 4 to 6 — precisely placed to reduce line formation without impairing lip function. We avoid over-treatment that would affect articulation, drinking through a straw, or normal eating. First-time clients start with a lower dose that we can adjust at follow-up.
